I received an email on September 27th indicating that tenders should be out the first week of October----so here is hoping!
Fund Raising
Since our Instrumental Music Campaign we have not done any full council fund raising. We have submitted our school fund raising plans to the board based on historical data.
Student Groups?
If you have a student group you would like to hear from at Parent Council let Alanna or I know and we will make arrangements for a representative to attend.

School Council Update
We started the thank you list today of donors to the Instrumental Music Fund. This should appear in the newspaper in the next couple of weeks.
Gary Dill, Head of the LDSS Tech Department, retired as of Dec. 31st, 2010.
The new head of the Tech Department is Marcel VanLeuuwen.
LDSS has undergone a facilities review. This is NOT ARC…we are not even being considered for closing. However, we have been granted a huge amount of money for renovations. These renovations are to be used to update and reorganize our current space.
The Department heads are already meeting to have an initial look at our options. This will be a very exciting project but will take some time to unfold.
As you already know we were granted $11 000 in the summer for an Itouch/Ipad project for our Life Skills students. Those resources have arrived and we are currently receiving training and investigating how these will be used with the students. We still have some money left to add equipment as needs arise.
I have been working on the Parent Resource Book whenever we have a snow day. Unfortunately for the book and fortunately for our students we haven’t had to close yet and have had very few no bus days. I will continue to work on this and if I have something a little more polished before our Feb. meeting I will send it out; otherwise I will bring it to the Feb. meeting.
Wishing you all the best in the New Year.
